pci card with antenna or usb cable with antenna

Hi
My present wireless system has a D Link antenna attached to a usb plug, I
would like to know if I change to a card fitted to a pci slot with a antenna
would work better than what I have.

Quite possibly as you've not got a transmitter hampered by the power
supply limitations of the USB specifications.
