PC Reset when I cannect ethernet plug

I have inserted in a Pentium 4 (well tested, with winME) a
fast ethernet adapter card (Edimax, based on Realtek
RTL8139). The Installation was regular.
But.... when I connect the plug in the ethernet port after
2-3 second the system reset.

Only disabling the NDIS.vxd in the selective boot I can
avoid the problem. The cable is brand new (a crossed
ethernet for a connection PC to PC).

No conflict detected in any part of this pc.

Whats wrong ?
