I've recently set up a home wireless network with 5 pcs.
Using a Netgear SuperG wireless router. I am having a
problem with the one pc that uses Win98se. I'm sharing
our broadband connection without any problem. All of the
pcs can see each other in network neighborhood. However
there is a problem if I try and access another pc from the
win98 machine. Soon after opening a folder on another pc,
the system will lock. The cursor can be moved around with
static coming from the speakers with mouse movement. A
hardware reset is then needed. The 98 system has an Abit
kx7-333 Motherboard with 384MB ram, Radeon 8500, Hercules
GameSurround Muse 5.1. A Microsoft MN-710 usb wireless
adapter is being used with excellent signal.
The other pcs are using xp. 2 other pcs have the same
Microsoft usb adapter, the remaining 2 use Netgear and
Linksys pci card adapters. So, any way of fixing the file
sharing problem on the 98 pc? I'd like to be able to fix
this with out spending more $ on another copy of xp.
Thanks to all.
