Howdy all,

I just moved house and I no longer have access to all my built in network cables and such.
Which sucks. The house Im currently living in prevents me from installing network cabling
in the walls, and I do not want cabling running all over the floor.

So, Im moving over to wi-fi. Heres the situation - I have 6 PC's (Im living with some
mates), a laptop or two, and an ADSL connection. Ideally Id like to be able to support up
to 16 PC's (I throw the occasional LAN, so...) with one PC throwing out the ADSL
connection across the network.

Now, the actual distance between the PC's would never be more than 20 meters, and up one
floor (its a two story house, with relatively small floor space) so mostly what Im looking
for is solid performance, high bandwidth and ability to handle multiple standards - what
should I be looking at?

Any thoughts handy.

Mike

A network card with an Wireless Access Point plugged into it connected to
another Wireless Access Point on the floor above where all the PCs are
connected to a 16-port hub from which the PCs in that room could connect to
the WAP would work.

So that`s 2 * Access Points and a Hub to support up to 16 PCs + also you
would have a good wireless network on both floors so you could get wifi
adapters for some on your mates pcs in different rooms on those floors.

Just to clarify the PC sharing its Internet Connection would maintain a
permanent Patch Cable connection to the WAP via its network card and the WAP
on the floor above could operate "wirelessly" just plugged into a power
source but you would also have a 16-port hub connected into it to offer
itself to up to 16 cable based PCs - but if someones got a wireless can it
could cater for them too.
