I am trying to copy files from an XPpro machine onto a server share that has
been mapped to a drive letter M:

All the files conform to 8.3 names and the share is only two folders deep
from the root.

It would appear that the message "Cannot copy file as path is too deep"
occurs on the first file with size greater than 16Kb.

What is the problem please?

Regards

Just a follow up for those others that may get this problem. The solution
was to change the Cat5 cable from the server to the switch as it was found
to be faulty (in a peculiar way) and was causing an excessive amount of
packets to be dropped.
