I don't think the problem has to do with Simple File
Sharing. You are trying to use Share level security. In
NT/2K/XP you can only use User Level security. In other
words, there is no way for a user to just type in a
password to access a file.
If that is understood and you still want to share
folders, you should disable Simple File Sharing and then
learn how to share by user name. You can then create
users on each machine that have the same name and
password in order to access the shared folders over the
network. Otherwise, the user has to type in the name of
an account that is on the remote machine and its password
when trying to access the shared folder.
