I have set a supervisor password and a user password.
What I want to do is make my computer where you have to
have a password to get past the boot up to windows. I
have the regular windows password but I noticed if you
clear the user window and instead of clicking ok just
click cancel and windows and all programs open. The only
time the password does anygood is if you try and open
windows with a name in the user box. On my laptop with XP
I have a password on the hardrive that you have to enter
when you boot up. Is there somethin similar on 98SE?
Thanks

98SE wasn't designed with the type of security that XP has.

Here are some ways to prevent users from bypassing the Windows logon.
However, it's not hard to get around these, and information on how to
do it is freely available on the web:

1. When the logon is canceled, Windows actually logs the user on as
the "default" user. You can configure the default user to be
immediately logged off, causing the logon prompt to return:

http://registry.winguides.com/display.php?629

2. Doug Knox has developed a procedure that requires a valid logon:

http://www.dougknox.com

Click "Security" and then click "Prevent Unauthorized Users from
accessing your computer". Be sure to follow the steps exactly as
documented.
