Is it asking for the IPC$ password? If so, Windows 2000 is trying to
validate the user name which wants to access its shared files. The
solution is to create a user account on the Windows 2000 machine with
the same user name and password that you use to log onto Windows 98.

>Hello, I know this is kind of late respond. but I hope

you resolved your password issue. I had the very same
exact problem as you...when I read your posted problem and
tried to fix as Steve replied to you. I finally figured
out that you have to log out [START(prompt)->LOG
OFF "NAME"] of your W98 box and log back in as the allowed
admin or user you put in the W2K box. Remember to share
the files you want to see on the W2K box. Good Luck.
