password box

I have windows ME installed and I recently had to
uninstall it to remove a glitch, bur after reinstalling
it, I now get a 'enter your network password for microsoft
networking' box appearing when I start the computer.
It' not a huge problem because I just press cancel and it
disappears and set up continues normally.
I've never had it before and I find it a nuisance.
How do I get rid of it?
Microsoft helpdesk won't help because ME is nolonger
supported by them and the computer manufacturer
(Multivision) never answer the phone!
