Hi All...
I do some consulting in our area for soho customers. Most of my customers
have either dsl or cable broadband but now I am looking at several larger
farms that would like to have broadband access

There is a telco which is offering wireless (2.4GHZ) from a communications
tower that is about 3.5 miles from a prospective farm but must be 'line of
sight' for reception.. I did some testing with the telco this last week and
found we could get a 100% signal if we put the receiver about 30 feet up (we
used their bucket truck).

At any rate, logistically it would be alot easier if we were to put a
passive repeater on top of a barn (basically a metal billboard) and mounting
the receiver lower than mounting a receiver ontop of a barn roof.

Any ideas or reservations?

Thanks
Dennis

You may want to research the issues involved in a forum more suitable
(perhaps www.practicallynetworked.com?). This newsgroup supports only
Microsoft's Broadband Networking hardware and software.

Hi

Yeah it can be done this way. However you lose half of the “Speed” pass the
repeater ( http://www.ezlan.net/Wireless_Modes.html ).

You have to provide power to the unit so use an Acccess Point that is POE
capable. By doing so you need to install only one CAT5e cable that would
take down the signal, and up the power.
