As subject, I had a call on my internet (VOIP) line about a week ago and
again last night trying to sell mobile phone contracts, they asked for me by
name and this was the number:

006024

Just checked with Bro-in-Law in Penang who advises there is no national or
local code '24' in Malaysia ATM.

No way of telling. It's possible to spoof CLI quite easily, especially if
you're using an Asterisk box. Out of interest, which VoIP supplier and
what system are you using (ATA/router/softphone).

Also try asking in uk.telecom.voip.

Thanks Ivor

The Voip supplier is BT and using the BT Homehub, and BT Softphone was
running at the time,so not sure if it came through that or via the phone, as
I
answered t on a phone, was only after that I noticed the softphone had also
picked it up !

Where the call came from is not susprising, people selling phone are
normally international call centers with cheap labour. Issue is that
the number might be spoofed as they normally use VoIP to keep thier
cost lower. You might check if BT do a service to block these sort of
call but it is VoIP, and i have not heard of a service like this but
it is worth asking BT
