Overwriting files from a Mac

Hello,
2003 Enterprise Server, File Services for Mac, Mac
user's permissions allow them to do everything.
Some additional testing needs to happen but frequently
when using Adobe products, ie. PhotoShop and Illustrator,
we are unable to "Save" the file, or "Save As" to the same
name and overwrite. We must rename the file in order to
save it.

Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris!

This may or may not be relevant to your problem.

I've heard of this happening with Photoshop, but not other Adobe products.
Adobe Photoshop 6 or 7 introduced a new feature where it would enter file
information into the comments field of the file, which could be read using
Get Info from the Finder. I can't remember if this caused your exact problem
or if it prevented a copy from a Mac to the server using the Finder.

The test for this issue to was to close the file, choose Get Info for the
file in the Finder and delete all comments. The file would then copy to the
server.

The fix was released by Adobe as a plug-in for Photoshop to disable the Get
Info Comments.

Hope this helps! bill
