Hi there! I have a client who uses a MS VPN connection on his laptop to
access his Corporate LAN via a RAS server. The initial connection logs in
fine using his domain username and password, and he can access any of the
various shares on their fileservers with no issue at all. When he tries to
use his Outlook, however, it prompts him for his username and password again
to login to the Exchange server. When I enter the credentials (username,
password, domain) it tells me they are incorrect. In fact, I can RDP to the
exchange server with the administrator account and it works fine, but when I
try to access the mailbox via outlook it tells me the credentials are
incorrect, which I know is not the case. Has anybody else had this issue?
Client machine runs XP Pro, is a member of their corp. domain, running
Office XP, all patches up to date
RAS server runs 2k Server (don't think he ras is the issue anyway)
Exchange server is exchange 2000, all patches up to date

Aby help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks!!

Making a VPN connection is not a logon operation. It just sets up an IP
connection. The credentials which the machine uses to access files are those
of its original logon.

If you want the client to do a domain logon when connecting you need to
use the "logon using a dialup connection" option in the logon dialog box.

I know Bill, I was just giving all pertinent background info.
He logs into the machine with his domain credentials, same as he does in the
office. These should then get passed to anythign he tries to access, ie.
files, shares, etc, including the exchange server when he tries to use
Outlook. As I stated in the first post, all of the above work except Outlook.
Does anoboy have any idea why that would happen?
