Windows 2003 Web Edition Server Service Pack 1.
computer name servweb.mydomain.com
I have the default smtp vertual server installed and running on this box
(servweb). While sitting at servmail.mydomain.com I can "telnet
servweb.mydomain.com" and obtain a successful connection. However if I try
the inverse of that and sit down in front of servweb and type “telnet
servmail.mydomain.com” (which is running an smtp vertual server as well) I
get the “Connection To servweb.mydomain.com…could not open connection to the
host, on port 25” (side note these two machines are on the same segment...no
router between them). As it turns out while sitting at servweb I can’t
telnet to localhost or any other host that I know is running smtp. Is there
a setting that I can check or a diagnostic tool which would allow me to see
if outbound smtp traffic is being blocked or interrupted on servweb? Thanks
in advance.
