OT WiFi in Spain.

Stayed at 2 humble hotels in Spain and they both had free WiFi for guests,
also seemed to be plenty of WiFi's coming up on my available signal menu of
my laptop.
Will be at the Melia Benidorm next and was horrified to see on the web that
they charge guests to use the WiFi connection anyone stayed there or another
Melia and confirm they charge and what they charge, please.
The rooms are described as having a connection for a modem again what sort
of charge if any?

Yes found that and sent an email asking, got auto reply saying had been
read, but no reply.
Incidentally the auto response is from head office I think not Benidorm.
Therefore I have done NG post with my question.

At a guess that'll mean you can plug in a dialup modem to a wall socket
(using whatever random local phone connector they happen to use, not
necessarily an RJ11), and then you'll pay the hotel's normal phone call
rates. Unless you can find a Spanish ISP they'll probably be eyewateringly
expensive, otherwise they'll just be plain expensive.

If wifi is going to be too expensive, an unlocked 3G phone or dongle plus a
local SIM is probably the best answer:
