have been considering going boardband for a while now but I need a few
pointers in the right direction. as we have our own phone company here in
hull I thought I best try them first I got the following info

no connection fee
£65 for modem
then 28.99 per month for up to 1 gb downloads
£38.99 for unlimited downloads

the speed is 500k
can anyone tell me what this bumf means

can anyone give me any feedback as to whether this is good or bad etc. and
possibly what other broadband services are best

tia

Since you are in hull and using Kingston Comms, you're _ONLY_ option is
Karoo.

And, if the quoted prices are correct it just goes to show that
competition DOES work...i.e. no competition allowed in Hull = much
higher prices to the customer

What's to think about? Do it!

It means your maximum downlaod speed is 500K a second, where as on dial-up
it maxes out at 56k a second. In English, it's about 10 times faster.

I prefer to buy my own gear and do self-install (wires only). I paid £129
for a netgear DG824M which is a combined ADSL modem, 4-port network switch,
router, and wireless access point. I have 2 PCs in the house, each equipped
with Wireless LAN tp avoid having CAT5 cabling all over the shop.

The ADSL goes into the router, and the PCs connect wirelessly to the router
to share the internet connection.

I chose PlusNet for ISP, paid £58.75 activation and then £21.99 a month. No
limits.

www.adslguide.org is the place to look.
