OT: pipex / webspace / php ?

Does anyone know if Pipex`s webspace is capable of running PHP ?

I`ve got an idea for a couple of sites and need to see what I can do
about getting something up and running that will allow visitors to upload
a small message and perhaps a small image or two.

I`ve never used PHP before, but I believe it can make life a whole lot
easier and can look quite swish, although i`m not sure if the
functionality would extend to what i`ve described above.

Other suggestions are also welcome - I realise what i`m asking at this
stage isn`t beyond a guestbook, but the number of entries and images
might make this a little unfeasible in the long run.

The ability to search using keywords may also be a great advantage, or by
another text field i.e. location, as would the ability for me to delete
entries if requested

Third party web hosting accounts can be had for little money; these
generally allow you to use PHP. Depending on how much you want to spend,
and if you'd like a virtual machine to do other remote server tasks on (such
as domains or e-mail), maybe take a look at Bytemark's offerings from £15 a
month.

That way you'll be in complete control of the PHP environment and not
restricted, as many hosting companies will make you.

not sure about whether Pipex allow PHP use, but, trust me, it will
extend far beyond that. have a look at <URL:http://www.gaminguk.net/>

The whole site is in PHP, with a database backend.The animated graphs
are in flash, with a PHP driven database SQL query providing the
floating data displayed on the graphs. The only non-php stuff on the
site is the Ikonboard forum which is PERL.

Yes, it does look pretty flexible. However, Colin, if you want to get
in touch (and already have a domain name to use), I'll set you up with
something between 100 and 500 MB (or starting low and working up). It
is down to you to look into content management modules, but if you see
mention of "fantastico" that's available on at least 2 servers I use,
and www.xoops.org is worth a look. 'Reply-to' should work! Peter M.

Putting that info in a signature would have guaranteed I'd never see it
if sending a mail message (or making a follow-up). I only point it out
as there may be some who don't know that signatures are often cut from
replies or not shown at all (on some older news reader applications).
