OT: Is NIN server OK?

Apologies for the OT post but I cannot reach my usual server,
new.individual.net (NIN). So I've turned to my rarely-used 'binary
instance' of Agent, which accesses the Forte APN server, and added
this newsgroup temporarily, to allow me to post.

I'm getting "Unable to find address of server News.Individual.NET."
when I try to get my news download. I strongly suspect that this is an
authentication issue. Wouldn't it just have to happen on a Bank
Holiday ;-(

But to rule out any genuine problem with the NIN server itself I would
appreciate some feedback please. Are other NIN users getting access
OK?

I renewed my NIN subscription 5 days ago (it didn't happen
automatically because my credit card was renewed meanwhile), and had
confirmation from Clickandbuy. They again confirmed on the phone ths
morning that all was OK. So I have no idea why this is happening.

I had no reply to my emails some days ago to NIN, at
(E-Mail Removed) Anyone know of an alternative email address, or
better still a phone number please?

Terry,

I have had a problem today. I have been connected to the Plusnet
"experimental" RIN network for about a week, with no problems. However
this morning I had a problem connecting to News.Individual.NET.

Swapping back to the normal Plusnet realm allowed me to connect fine.
It is fully repeatable. Switch back to the RIN (Plusdsl2) realm and
again the news server times out.

Tracert on the RIN network gets as far as

t2a7-ge7-0.de-fra.eu.bt.net then fails

Tracert on the normal realm gets all the way there (as expected)

In my case its not the DNS because both realms resolve to 130.133.1.4

It looks as if one of the routes to News.Individual.NET (the one that
goes via de-fra.eu.bt.net is failing.

Regards

Unlikely to be an authentication issue at NIN; you are getting what
looks like a DNS lookup failure. However, no problems here, and in fact
I'm posting this via NIN.

Yes.

No point. Nothing wrong with them. It's very likely a DNS issue, so your
ISP is just as likely to be at fault. Good luck trying to get Pipex to
help, though...although at least it isn't the accounts department!

Thanks both. Also had another reply to similar query in the Agent
newsgroup: "I can't get in either. Their entire site seems to be
down. I can't get to their website."

My connection to NIN failed this morning until about 11:30. :-(
Working OK now. :-) Patience is a virtue

I hate to say it, but it's all ok here. Website fine and no problems
posting.

But their site isn't down. The website is fine. And I've been pulling
news all morning....!

NIN`s working fine for me at the moment, although I`ve noticed quite a few
missing posts over the last month or so. Anyone else having this problem?

Your mornings must be much shorter than mine! Came back up for me
sometime soon after 12 noon.

I had a problem with it _yesterday_ that sounded similar to yours, but
it seemed to resolve itself within an hour or two.

I can't remember the exact response - it was something along the lines
of "the server address is correct, but getting an invalid response"

Perhaps they're carrying out some general maintenance of the servers
over the bank holiday :-}
