It would seem a dumb move to use a website (which is guaranteed to be
"behind" compared with downloading items off the news server) and in
having to "register" to be able to post (A site owner can then build
a list of mail addresses that could later be sold - if there is no
guarantee of protection of privact from a *subsequent* owner of the
domain/website... I've seen some established sites sold on Ebay.)

For anyone seeing this on Broadband Banter, you could try clicking this:
news:uk.telecom.broadband

If your browser does't handle that link, install Opera or Netscape 7.1
as both those browsers include web browsing, e-mail and newsgroups, but
if your ISP doesn't include newsgroups, switch to one that does, or use
a cheap/free news service such as www.teranews.com A news server lets
you access tens of thousands of newsgroups, many include binary groups
to you can download music or software or photos as well as text, but
it is best to ask before signing up for service. Check some binaries
groups using your browser at www.usenetbinaries.com - NB not a service
I recommend you subscribe to - you don't even get all image groups -
it may open your eyes to some of the existing newsgroups, and you can
then explore the options for getting news commercially if not available
from your ISP for free

I switched to ISP and went onto DSL Max (try http://www.dslmax.info/)
