OT: Network TV?

I have a home network running XP thru a Linksys Router and on a cable
modem.

Strictly between ourselves, I have 'tapped' the cable modem into a PC TV
card and then onto a coax portable in the same room. My main cable
picks up load of channels and I pay for them but all I want on the
remote TV is the free to air channels 1 to 5 in reasonable quality (i.e.
better than a bolt on areial). This set up does that and I can watch
the BBC/ITV news in a window.

Is it possible to pipe the servie / free to air channels (1-5) to a
networked PC without running more coax and splitters? Is it possible to
use the CAT5 wire into the remote TV card from the cable?

TIA

It should be possible to do that. Can't hurt to try!

You might also consider wireless.
