When one goes to a Speedtest site or site to do with computers allsorts of
Links jump out at you, such as Speed up your BB, Speed up your PC., Find
Drivers.
All these Free !!!
You run them free, they then tell you you 599 errors in your PC, click to
fix, THEN they ask for money! or no fix!

If this sort of thing is reporting correctly and they can fix errors etc.
can we get the same/similar really free any where?
Or just a conn.?

Well..

I clicked on one and it said I had 599 errors on my registry, and did
these need fixing?

I was puzzled, because I run a power PC Macintosh running OS-X and it
doesn't HAVE a registry.

Another site asked me 'is your PC running low: Buy more RAM'

My MAC was indeed running slow. But of course the activity monitor is
only a click away. It reported 100% CPU utilisation and plenty or RAM. A
bit more investigation showed that a javascript routine in the advert
was sitting in a tight loop eating up cycles.

Draw your own conclusions...

Are you genuinely thick? Give me your bank details and I will send you
a free program via a friend in Nigeria.

So long as you didn't allow any program to run on your PC or allow
access to it you are OK.

It does show you are thick for even clicking on such a link.

I have, people like you are actually lacking in the intelligence department.
You are too stupid not to spot a scam a mile off, you still allow yourself
to be conned. People behind such sites have already lifted the info from
your PC, so I would start changing passwords and bank / card details.

Not at all. I did it to see what would happen.

No problems with Macs. very little malware will run on them.

The thick one around here is the one who didn't realise I wasn't using a PC.
