On some websites (yahoo) the fonts have recently become very small, they
didn't use to be like this, just wondering if there's any way to make them
bigger as I cant read it or find it very hard.

many thanks

Do you have a mouse with a scroll wheel?

Press <ctrl> and roll the wheel up and down to change the font size.

There is no default font size, iirc

What your doing by pressing ctrl and moving the scroll mouse is
increasing or decreasing any value assigned to the HTML command
"<font>" on the webpage. I suppose in theory you could say that the
default is whatever the webpage is set to though

Most pages seem to be fine, 1 "up" from the smallest size.
