Why can't we just stay on GMT and be done with it..? All this talk of it
getting dark earlier and kids coming home from school in the dark is
eyewash if you ask me.

The number of hours of daylight doesn't magically change when the clocks
are adjusted, all it means is that people sleep an extra hour of daylight
away in the mornings and then complain that it isn't light enough later
on.

Why can't people just get up an hour earlier and go to bed an hour
earlier, then nothing would change and we wouldn't have to fiddle with
countless clocks..! Start work at 8 instead of 9 in the winter months, is
that so hard to comprehend..?!

I work for a bus company and I have a huge number of clocks on our
on-board CCTV systems to adjust this weekend..! The newer digital systems
are self adjusting, but there are still 80+ VHS-based systems that I have
to adjust manually. It takes me almost a full day twice a year, I could do
without it..!

No, way. I'd rather have light evenings / nights in the summer, so would
rather have 2 hours added during the Summer that is be on CEST, have no
problem moving clocks forwards and backwards so will be happy to follow
many other European countries and addopt CET/CEST.

But the daylight is there..! You are in bed in the morning..! Get up and
start work earlier, then it will still be light when you finish..!

I note you didn't comment on this point, could it be that I'm right..? ;-)

Yes, but it takes me a day to do, and my other work doesn't go away. It's
*extra* work that I could do without..!

Ahh but think of all the problems if the rest of Europe doesn't sink up
with us. Or the USA still carries on with changing it's clocks. You'd
still have to wonder what the time was in Paris and what time to call
Fred in New York !!

We're now part of a global economy and reverting to GMT all year would
cause mayhem.
