Oh my word please can someone help me?

I've ordered a machine from dell, excellent bargain for £599.32

However, I've had my credit card bill and they've billed it
for £2014.81, I've called their head office and emailed them
and now they're asking for copies of statements, it's all
dealt with in India and I know they have no data protection
laws over there.

When I call their head office number with the number I get off
of saynoto0870 they just keep putting me back through to India
all the time, these Indians don't even seem to be able to
grasp what I'm saying and I really am not difficult to
understand, I'm a customer service manager myself and can
understand how horrified a customer would be if this happened,
but they just don't seem to care or understand.

They keep asking me to scan the statement in, something which
I can't do because I don't have a scanner, and they're asking
me to fax it accross to them!

Does anyone have a number of someone in England that I can
speak to regarding this? I'm sure that what they have done is
committed fraud. I have already called my credit card company
who have put the amount on as a disputed amount and are
sending me out a form to sign, I've been messing about with
them for over 3 hours this morning now.

I'll never ever use them again, the machine was ordered on
11th July and it's still in pre production due to lack of
parts caused by a glass shortage.

Thanks in advance guys

Phone your credit card co and report the transaction as unauthorised and
*insist* they reverse it *immediately*.

They will probably tell you to phone Dell. This is why you need to
*insist*.

Then wait for Dell to contact you ...

You could also write to their Registered Office, 25/28 North Wall Quay,
Dublin 1.

Don't panic, worst that can happen is the credit card co will refund
you.

Put everything in writing, don't waste your time on the phone.

Should have done a little research on Dell before, as you should with
any purchase, see if there have been complaints about the company. The
net is rife with DELL COMPLAINTS!

The Dell I bought earlier this year was delivered earlier than they said
and has worked faultlessly.

To be fair, they do have a fair few customers. As a percentage I don't
think there are *that* many more complaints about Dell than anyone
else. Admittedly, some of their stuff is shite and their customer
services are at times crap, but then so are most big companies.

The last time I bought a Dell they sent me two. That's a good service!

Yes, well. There are always going to be exceptions.

....and that statement can apply both ways.

As it is with ANY other large vendor.... Dell are a damn site better
than MANY others, and are getting better month by month.

I bought a Dell laptop on the strength of the excellent service received
at my place of work (where we have over 500 RELIABLE machines) and thus
far, have not been at all disappointed.

....which is something the OP should appreciate, being in a customer
service environment, but appears not to have done with his "never
again" comment.

Dell will - and I can virtually guarantee it - give him a freebie for
his trouble, anything from a memory stick to an 8 port managed switch!

A friend of mine was given the latter as an apology when things didn't
quite work out over an order he placed. It wasn't even Dell's fault
(t'was the courier) but the service agent picked up on the fact he
mentioned 'network' and sent him one!

I told him he didn't need it, which he doesn't, so i now have it :-))
