OT:Connecting an Xbox 360 to Xbox live via a Belkin 54g Router

Never seen an Xbox 360 (or an Xbox) before tonite but I know a little about
computers so a mate asked me to help him connect his 360 to Xbox live via
his Belkin 54g using WiFi. He had it connected via cable before and this
works fine. I failed!

I turned WEP off to try and get in connected. The Xbox detected the router,
displayed the correct SSID and the fact it was 54g it displayed connected
but then when we said yes to testing it failed. Nothing I did in terms of
tweaking the router made it connect.

Anyone any suggestions or is this router incompatible with the Xbox 360 - if
so could anyone recommend one that is for use in the UK.!
