You could, but it'd be easier to cut and paste it off the O'Reilly site.
Hypothetically.

But needlessly complicated.

What's "needless" about saving 37 quid?

It's needlessly complicated if all you want is the ISBN. Look it up on
the O'Reilly website...see my other post....since you'll be on it anyway.

Why go away from the O'Reilly website?

(but ISBNDB is quite useful; I wrote some software, driven by a bar code
reader, that uses ISBNDB to build a book catalogue at home)

the old mobi prc files which date back to Palm pilot mobipocket reader
also work - as long as they dont have the mobi DRM stuff.

If you like sci-fi there are a lot of free books in mobi format at the
Baen free library.

Amazon provide a free,

the kindle can read unencrypted PDF files directly - although it
doesnt know how to reflow the text on a page, so you may end up with
small letters, or using rotate to get a sensible text size.

It seems to handle others such as TXT but seems to choke on some HTML.
Amazon have added a few flavours recently, and format conversion via
an email system.
- plenty of info in their kindle help pages if you need it.
