Buying one as a Christmas presnt for my wife and I know little or nothing
about them.
Does not appear to be a NG for them, found one on ebooks but only 4 posts
ever to it, does anyone use Kindle and can they piont me to a NG?

If anyone wants to help me my first question would be.
Would be nice for me to put a copy of the Bible on it, now books do not seem
too expenseive at first glance to download but of course one looks to see
what is free first.
I Googled Free Bibles for Kindle and got this,
http://www.amazon.com/Holy-Bible-Int.../dp/B000FC2KBU

Now NIV is the most used version now possibly and is the version of choice
but you will notice it says one can't download it in the UK, going to UK
site one gets offered the King James version that is 400 years old, good but
not modern English. Can I over ride Amazon.com reluctance to "sell" to the
UK and get it from them?

Regards
David

Here you go, The International "International" kindle version.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/NIV-Bible-In.../dp/B005IYICEO

Only a fiver! Can't even get two fishes (sardines don't count) and five
loaves of bread for that nowadays ;-)

You can if you catch the fish yourself and bake the bread too.

1: don't
2: see (1)

Are you really daft enough to pay £89 for a black and white text reader
where the only winner in the equation is Amazon?

Do you think that little of your wife?

Seriously, only the backward by them.

Actually paying £79 at Tesco Direct with code TDX-NTRY
You right probably high at £89 and very obvious Amazon have price fixed this
product as everyone has the same price.
A very popular product for this Christmas market, Comet had sold all theirs
and PC World and Currys said going like hot cakes.
Can see it being at the popular £49.99 price slot in 2012.

Thanks for the Link, will go for that if the Free one fails to be got. I
had used the word Free in Searching.
Yes you confirm my first impression that the downloads not seeming a lot of
money, but of course several £5 do add up if full use made of the Kindle.
Not like PC Printers though it seems they make the money from Ink refills.
It is strange free in US and £5 here in UK.

David

I won't have one, or any other e-reader as a matter of principle until
ebook prices come down. A couple of books I was looking at in
Waterstones were £8.99 for the paper version or £6.99 for the ebook
version - just TWO quid difference and yet they are saving on all that
paper, ink, warehousing, transportation and distribution. Rip-off
britain is alive and well and yet people flock to buy the things!

That's usually a publisher restriction.

I personally think the Kindle is wonderful. It's blinkered to think that
only Amazon books work on it; there's lots of free stuff elsewhere, and
the common .mobi format is completely compatible. Amazon provide a free,
fast (5 mins) PDF conversion service too. And there is software around to
convert all the other formats too.

If anyone is into O'Reilly books, you can download the e-book of any book
you own for about 3 quid. Being able to carry all my ORA books (over 50)
in my pocket is really useful. And meeting minutes, etc. and any big
document.

And yes, I buy books from Amazon too.

Probably not free in the US as well.

When I click on the original URL you posted it doesn't offer me a price,
as I'm not in the right Amazon country. If I change that by making an
'I'm in xyz' changes on their site, or in this case going via a US
proxy, it seems neither is that true for the US. Your 'free bible'
google search maybe has bought you back a pup that's only released in a
specific sales area (which I can't identify)

This looks like the US released one, it's $9.99

What a rip-off, should be free IMHO. Why on earth should I pay for
another copy/image of something I have bought already?
