Dear all,
I'm currently trying to get my head around the OSI model - what do you think to
the following definition:
......The presentation layer manages the data structure. The necessity for this
layer is best explained through an example. Consider two students trying to
engage in conversation[1]. One student speaks German and the other speaks
French, hence it is not possible for the students to understand each other. The
presentation layer acts as a interpreter to enable the conversation to be
understood by all parties.....
[1] Incidentally the conversation can be considered to occur at application
level.
Is the definition technically correct??
(or have I miss interpreted the role of the presentation layer?)
Cheers,
Ben
