OS for wireless networking

Wednesday, December 22, 2004

Hi, I just want to know if there would be a better version of LINUX for me
to use that would enable my wireless network to work. Right now the network
works using WinXP but not using Mandrake 10.1. I have an Ethernet Card that
takes in my cable Internet connection. I then have a D-Link 520+ card
installed into the same machine running WinXP, downstairs I have an old
system running Win98 with a Linksys WMP54G wireless card installed, This
system works fine with good quick internet sharing and I can views the files
on the XP machine from the 98 machine but not the other way around.

But what I want is to be able to drop Windows and use Linux so which O.S.
should it be.

All the best;

AMcDonald

You have to make sure there are drivers available for your hardware.
Check on the Linksys site or Google for "Linksys WMP54G Linux drivers".
I got about 5,820 links for that. Certainly some of the first ones
should get you going or at least give you answers.
