Apologies for not being more specific. The Orinoco Gold USB client
was running OK most of the time on Win98SE (not a typical
implementation : loaded on a converted Netpliance I-Opener powered by
a Centaur/IDT Winchip2), but I had to use a USB switch and manually
switch on the USB port between the converted I-Opener and Orinoco
after the I-Opener powered up. The Orinoco never worked if it was
already connected to the USB port prior to power up. And even with the
USB connection delayed until after Windows has loaded, the radio
sometimes still didn't work. Anyways, the readme file that
accompanied the firmware upgrade listed numerous bug fixes and
improvements. and it seemed to make sense the other night to do the
upgrade. Given what's happened, I wish I could go back, since before
the upgrade I was at least able to get a wireless connection up most
of the time on the first try.
So if anyone has an idea on how to disable WEP in my driver
configuration, as suggested by the Orinoco/Proxim Client Manager
dialog box, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks and regards -
