An interesting observation....
I get about 30% greater throughput on my wireless laptop using an Orinoco
silver card when it's running linux, than when using the XP driver. That
is, given the same system, same location, same access point, same ISP, I
can't max-out my 3 mbit/sec Comcast broadband link under XP, but I can
when running under linux. Of course, I test this all out by booting first
under XP, running a speed test, then rebooting under linux (it's a dual
boot machine, obviously). Are the XP drivers known to be slow? I was
surprised at this result. The machine and access point are on the same
table for the test, so it's not an WAP to laptop distance issue. Is there
anything I can do to improve the throughput when running under XP?
Thanks.
