Mine does. The "current" models don't.

Here's a list of features, including which do and don't have external
antenna connections. My Silver Classic has dropped off the list.

Orinoco Client Selection Guide

There are several models of Orinoco cards. Each of the data sheets
explain which has an external connector, and also list "RELATED PRODUCTS
AP-2500, AP-2000, AP-600, BG-2000 Range Extender Antenna (2.5 dBi)" where
appropriate. Watch out for your particular model number on the card,
probably 8420 or something similar.

Dell has the "Gold", with external connector. The price fluctuates.

Clarence,
can you please check the model number on your Silver 'classic' PC card ?
This could enable me to track one down, if they are still available.
TIA
Regards,
Martin

Looking at the label on the back of my
Orinoco Silver, 802.11b, 64bit WEP, external connector
T/N 31709241
P/N 019649/B
Agere Systems PC24E-11/FC/R
FCC ID: IMRWLPCE2411R
Check boxes for PCCard: 5v, 16bit
http://www.proxim.com/learn/library/.../11bpccard.pdf
seems to be the proper data sheet, which mentions model 8420, although that
doesn't appear on my card anywhere.

The outside of the box mentions World Card, but doesn't mention the
external antenna connection.

My card doesn't say Proxim anywhere. It says Orinoco rather prominently,
and Agere Systems on only one small line on the back.

The current Gold and Silver cards product No's are 8420 and 8421 the B/G
spec are 8470 and 8471.
The 'classic' Gold card is 8410, so it's more then likely the 'classic
Silver one WITH the connector was 8411.
The question is can I still find one for sale somewhere ?

Martin

Martin is correct in the model number cross reference.
If there is a Proxim model number for silver-with-antenna, it is probably
8411.

I pointed to the wrong datasheet.
http://www.proxim.com/learn/library/.../11bpccard.pdf
This datasheet is from 5/2003 for "ORiNOCO 11b Client PC Card" that
metions the model numbers 8420 and 8421, and has Proxim at the bottom of
the pages. This one notes that the external connector is 8421 (Gold) only.

I have a datasheet PC-card.pdf from 10/2001 for "ORiNOCO World PC Card"
that doesn't mention a model number, although it talks about silver
and gold, both with external antenna. It doesn't mention Proxim.

The key is the FCCID, which is qualified with the Range Extender antenna.
"USA
PC24E-11-FC/R Worldcard IMRWLPCE2411R
PC24E-11-FC/R S Worldcard IMRWLPCE2411R
Only indoor with integral or approved Range Extender Antenna "

my silver is FC/R
I presume that F/R S is the gold.

If you do a google search for "IMRWLPCE2411R" you find several cards that
are the same FCC-ID, and therefore can be assumed to be the Orinoco card,
including the Enterasys Roamabout, Dell Truemobile 1150, etc.

A friend of mine just hooked up DSL with SBC/Yahoo and they issued him a
2Wire wireless DSL router and one wifi card. The card (an Orinoco
rebaged) has the external antenna port. Per 2Wire's website, you can
buy it at www.sbcstore.com for about $70.00US.

That's higher than the Dell price for the Orinoco Gold.

Dell has the "Gold", with external connector. $49, sometimes less.
