Orinoco Range Extender antenna and the gold card

Probably, this was asked before, but I couldn't find the post. so..

I am wondering if I could use Orinoco range extender antenna with my
Orinoco gold pc card wireless adapter. I looked up many pages, however,
no one clearly says that this antenna work with this card (I found that
this antenna works with AP, though). There is a small port in Orinoco
gold card for the antenna, so my guess is that I could use it.

I am also wondering if I could get better reception by simply adding the
antenna to the pc card wireless NIC.

I don't understand the difference between the two questions.
There are several models of Orinoco cards. Each of the data sheets at
http://www.proxim.com/products/all/orinoco/client/
explain which has an external connector, and also list "RELATED PRODUCTS
AP-2500, AP-2000, AP-600, BG-2000 Range Extender Antenna (2.5 dBi)" where
appropriate. Watch out for your particular model number on the card,
probably 8420 or something similar.

You might also want to look elsewhere for an external antenna, as the price
of that Orinoco is rather high for 2.5dBi.
