Just bought two ORiNOCO a/b/g PCI adapter. After installing the
driver and software according to the instructions included in the
product, and inserting the PCI adapter into one of the PCI slot, then
restarting the PC, the PC won't start at all even if I update the BIOS
( Running Windows 2003 server ). I have tried this PCI adapter in
another 2 PC. The result is the same. One of the PC is OK to start.
However, the ORiNOCO PCI adapter cannot be detected by OS ( Windows XP
professional ). The other PC can not be started either (
Running Windows XP professional ).

After take out the ORiNOCO PCI adapter, all PC get back to normal
condition.

Anyone have this problem?

This is the case for the old PCMCIA adapter. The question here was about
the new AG PCI card.

Is there a difference in the BIOS brand/motherboard brand?

Did you try contacting Proxim support? I did not hear about this problem
before.

Kind regards,
Johan

Yes, the PCs are different in BIOS brand and motherboare.

Yes, the following is the reply from Proxim support :

"KC -

Well it seems that you have done everything correctly. So these are
the 2 possible reasons as to why the pc card doesn't work:

1) Resource issue, yes even in these times computers can still have
IRQ sharing issues. To resolve, you can pull all unneccessary PCI
cards out and try all PCI slot until the adapter and cards works in
unisen.

2) Server 2003, I am not sure if our adapter and pc card was tested
in this environment. I don't believe the packaging even mentions Win
2003 Server."

If anyone in this group ever used this product, please share your
experience with us. Thanks.
