Go with whatever you like. I personally go for the good old, cheap and
reliable Realtek RTL8139 chipset.
My pages are served off a PIII600 laptop through a generic(rtl8139
chipset) pcmcia card and I have had no problems.

I'll pass on that thanks :P

Netgear's FA310 was nice, it had the Tulip chipset inside, of very importance
note though, the 'newer' FA311/312's do not; a lot of NIC makers used the
Tulip chipset however then Intel nicked the chip for themselves and everyone
ran away from it in fear of potential lock in 'sales monkey' tatics; or at
least thats how I heard the story.

You probably will find the following useful:

Have fun

i prefer the good ole tulip driver w/ the D-Link, but the Intel driver
might be your better choice.

hmm.. arent they both Intel (2114x chipset and 8255x)?

BOFH excuse #273: The cause of the problem is: It was OK before you
touched it.

Yes , that is the case. I chose Intel EtherPro for my server and so far been
better.
Now if only I could solve strange BUS error I get.. the HD light just stays
on..

I'm a LinkSys fan myself. I haven't set up any servers, but
I've put PCI cards into desktop machines and PCMCIA cards into
laptops and they just work, first time - under both Linux and
Windows. I don't get good feelings from D-Link - I beat my
head against a brick wall trying to get a DFE-530TX working
on a Window box, then finally gave up and put in a LinkSys.
D-Link's web site doesn't impress me nearly as much as LinkSys
either - I went there trying to get help making that card work
and I couldn't find any useful information.
