openvpn v. freeswan

We've used freeswan for several years now and are very pleased with it.

Just came across openvpn and it looks a lot easier to use (and no kernel
compile? wow!).

Any advice on the differences between the two and if they can be integrated
easily (freeswan on one box, openvpn on the other end) would be appreciated.

You have to use one or the other. Freeswan uses IPsec and OpenVPN uses it's
own method, using encryption and udp. I use OpenVPN and it works well.

OpenVPN is an SSL VPN and as such is not compatible with IPSec.
