openmosix_2.6 incompatible

I have been to the openmosix site and the latest version of it is for
the 2.4.26 kernel. I am running a 2.6 kernel on my linux sys. I got the
source and compiled the 2.4.26.openmosix kernel. However, booting into
that kernel has disallowed me from booting into the graphical mode. I
suspect it's missing modules. When I boot the 2.6, it starts udev which
finds and address all the devices but udev is only for 2.6 and <? what
can i do?
