Opening Ports - reducing security - port tunnelling

Hi

I've a SOHO with a netgear wireless router.

I've opened quite a few ports to permit on-line gaming but I'm a bit
concerned that in doing so I'm becoming more insecure. For example, one
game final fantasy 11 requires, according to it's website 15000 ports
open (tcp and udp) outbound only.

Is there anything I can do to shore this up?

Also, once these ports are open, is it possible to tunnel through these
to by-pass the proxy server/filter which I've set up?

Thanks

Simon

Yeah, stop being paranoid. All you really need to do is to block all
ports from 0-1000 as these are the ports that Windows services use.

In fact, all you really need to do is to install Sygate or similar on
the PC and forget the port blocking fannying around on the router. All
it does is create more problems.
