Open SSID detected as Security-enabled

We have set up Proxim wireless Access Points in our location for public
access. The SSID is set to be open without encryption and authentication.
However, when we use Windows XP SP2 to detect the network, it shows the SSID
to be Securtiy Enabled. So it fails on connection attempt. We can connect
it by manually creating the wireless network connection with "Open" access.

But when we use IBM Access connection utility to detect it, it shows
properly as "Open" and we can connect to it without problem.

Is there anyone with similar problem and any suggestions?

The access point's beacon must contain a flag for secure encryption if our
UI is showing "Security Enabled". Open network association can be paired
with encryption. In fact, the Shared association method is pretty much
non-existant these days. Even WPA and WPA2 use an Open association model.

What access point and firmware version are you using?

Hi Jerry,

Thank you for your prompt response. We are using Proxim AP-4000 v2.6.0.
Just got confirmation from the vendor that there is a bug on the software and
will be fixed in the next version.
