Linux has a traffic shaping feature. you wont get the pretty build-in
GUI that comes with the Packeteer product but can do some decent
shaping. dont know about compression as a traffic shaper (or bridge)
shouldnt really need to compress, it should just adjust the window size
or packet rate.
