do a simple test by using net view command, for example net view \\remotepcname.

Have a server that is taking about 25-30 seconds to recognize that files are
no longer being used from a networked client (XP, 2000 or 2003 clients). We
run some programs that open files, delete them and then recreate them rather
quicly and when this happens over the network a message "access is denied"
comes up on the client. If I run it locally from the server it runs just
fine. It is not a permission problem as the domain admin has full rights and
is the account that we have used to it on the remote clients. Have tested it
on other Windows servers with the same SP level by moving the directory,
sharing it and then running the program. Each of those servers refresh their
open files list in computer manager immediately, but this server keeps them
open for a long time which is why we think it is a server issue with this
server. We think the issue started happening a few weeks ago, but cannot
pinpoint any changes, except that we made some TCP/IP address changes around
the same time to the entire network. Again other servers are ok, but just
this server. BTW it is not a domain controller. Have searched for this
issue to no avail. Any suggestions?
