If you have wired ethernet on the laptop, first install
the wired connection using the cable, and then install
the wireless card as if it was a second computer, as
indicated on the documentation.
If you don't have a wired ethernet port on the laptop,
you need to set it manually.
First, set the laptop wireless to access the base
station -- the SSID is MSHOME, the channel is 6, no
encryption (you set this on the properties for the
wireless network under Network Connections).
Run IE and go to
http://192.168.2.1 -- you'll enter the
router configuration screen. You want to configure the
WAN settings (how to get Internet access -- dynamic,
static...). These are the settings that your ISP has
given to you. Once this is done, make sure you can browse
the Internet -- if you don't, the settings are not right.
Finally, add security to the wireless connection. Change
SSID and the encryption (WEP, WPA...) on the router. The
connection from the laptop will be lost, since the
settings won't match. Change them on the laptop to match
the router, and the connection should be reestablished.
