One machine hogs my DI-614+ router

When one machine on our little LAN is uploading a file via ftp, the
other machines on the LAN cannot seem to get to any URL. It is as if
the uploading machine is freezing the others out. I am not sure if it
is significant, but the machine that does the uploading is the one
that is hard connected to the router and all the others are connected
by wifi. Why does this happen and is there a solution?
