Sorry, I know this has been asked many times, but for a small network w/DC
10 clients. Best option for admin managed AV program ( we do have cable
Internet access with a router)
Thanks

I'd look into the Trend Micro client/server suite (or
client/server/messaging, if you also have Exchange). Have had very few
problems with it.

Also, just curious - is your router also a true firewall (not just a NAT
box)? I'd recommend it...

Probably just fine - of course, a firewall isn't a panacea - make sure
you've hardened your server's security & keep it updated with all critical
patches/updates.

They have a free 30-day eval available for download. I really like Trend a
lot. My favorite, these days.

Ah - it just does NAT. I'd replace it with a device that also has a stateful
inspection firewall built in, for more security. My current small-office
fave is the NetGear FR114P - about $80 US.

OK. Is it a big deal to change out the routers? Right now the server(W2K DC)
does all DNS/DHCP. Cable ISP IP address on forwarder tabs. 10 clients, 5 xp,
5 w98se?
Thanks for the help

Nope - but there will be a loss of internet connectivity in the meantime.

That's good

Presume you mean your ISP's DNS server - put in more than one just in case.

Yep - make sure you're running WINS as you have 9x clients.

Most welcome!
