Offline Files issue w/ Server 2003 AD, WinXP PRO

I have used Offline Files before, and had some success. Recently,
however, I can't seem to get anything to work, and now something's
"broken". I had a server set up w/ a share that I had a couple
folders set up to be available offline. It hasn't worked for some
while, so after migrating all the data off that server to a new NAS, I
removed the share on that folder. However, because that server is
also a print server, now if that share is gone, I can't print
anywhere. It says I'm offline. If I re-share the folder in question,
I can print again, but I don't want users on the network connecting to
that share anymore. How can I clear that up so that folder no longer
needs to be shared in order for my computer to ignore it's previous
status & print regardless? Any help would be appreciated.

MetalFRO,
In Tools, Synchronize you can deselect the share that is being made
available offline.
Try also deleting the offline cache of the PC. You will need to go to
Explorer, Tools, Folder Options and then press Ctrl+Shift at the same time
as selecting the option "Delete Files". This will reinitialize the cache.
There is also an option in "Advanced" to never go offline, but that is a bit
of a kludge for this problem.
On the Share itself you can set the option not to be available offline. This
is in Properties, Sharing, Caching,

I have never had luck with offline files - well, not *good* luck. I've seen
a number of people lose data, permenantly. I would avoid using it. On a
desktop, I want everyone working from the server, "live" so this is not
really an issue.

If it's a laptop and you need some means of file synchronization, check out
SecondCopy at www.centered.com - I prefer it.
