odiload.vxd problem

I'm trying to install a Netgear FA410TX PC card NIC on an older Compaq
notebook running WinME (NOT my decision to run this OS).

I've installed the latest drivers for the NIC, but after rebooting,
when I check in the Device Manager I see the following error message
about the NIC:
"This device is not working properly because Windows
cannot load the file [odiload.vxd] that loads the drivers
for the device [Code 8.]"

I have extracted the odiload.vxd from the WinME CD and copied into
Windows/system, but still no dice.

What do I have to do to get this thing to work?
THanks,
James Wilson

If your system is not on a Novell network or does not need IPX/SPX network
protocols, remove them from the Network Properties screen. That will
eliminate the error message.

Thanks, Richard, I'll try that. I managed to get past that error
message, but I still can't get WinME to properly install the driver.
Admittedly, the driver file from Netgear's site doesn't include WinME
drivers, only 95/98, NT, & 2k.
Thanks,
James
