Odd Connection Issue

Hi Guys,

Hope someone can shed some light on an issue my ISP is struggling to
understand. Last night my ADSL connection suddenly started to 'play
up'. Connection dropping occassionally, loosing sync occassionally,
and even when it is running it is struggling to find sites, change
pages etc. Last night after an hour on the phone trying everything
tech support and myself could think of we came to the conclusion it was
the router, so I replaced it. Guess what - no change.

I can ping out sometimes, not at other times. If I try to use Napster,
if the connection establishes it is fine, but it sometimes can't
establish a connection. When doing email, sometimes everything is fine
and sometimes it cannot find the mail servers.

I am puzzled. At the office we are with the same ISP and everything is
absolutely fine - on same DNS servers and everything and the office is
only down the road (same exchange, and same water levels - yes it has
been raining).

Seems like the problem must be between the ISP and the router.

Before you ask - yes, I have replaced the Microfilters, connected the
router to the master telephone socket with a known working filter,
checked the new routers settings, tried an old USB ADSL modem, and so
on and so forth (I install routers for a living!), but this problem has
me stumped. What am I missing?

Thanks

Darren

Totally normal, all within acceptable levels. I cannot see this info
at the moment, but checked it earlier today and Tech Support have been
looking in to this problem and called me just a few minutes ago to
confirm that all line tests etc are also normal.

You know what, I am beginning to wonder if this is an ADSL Max problem.
Having had a very stable connection for a week I had not realised that
the line might not have finished training yet! Will let you know in a
couple of days if this situation still exists...

Darren

Just in case anyone is wondering - here was the solution:

The new replacement router was faulty (unbelievable!!). So two faulty
routers. I have now paid out the money and invested in a decent
router!!

Thanks anyway to anyone who looked!!
