Obtain IP but can't ping other machines or gateway

I have 1 machine on my network that gets an IP but is not
able to connect to the internet, ping any machines on the
network or the gateway. The machine can ping its own
IP. Windows 98 SE. I have tried connecting to the
router and directly to the cable modem. Other machines
connect fine using the same cables. Any assistance is
appriciated.
