I'm about to go to O2 from Sky & wondered what they do to check the O2
phone number you use when you sign up.
I have an O2 mobile through work so I don't pay the bill & was
thinking of using this. I started off a test signup putting in my work
mobile & got a discount code texted to it. Do they just then make sure
it remains an active O2 phone with the bill being paid?
I know the phone man at work so there's no chance of any trouble
there. If anything is flagged up I'll just switch to a PAYG number &
do the top up requirement.

The O2 FAQs say that is the case with a contract phone. For PAYG ones they say
they will TXT the phone to warn if it has not been topped up in the
3 months before the Broadband Bill.

The worst that they will do is charge full (non-O2 phone user) Broadband
price for that month!

It says in big letters on the DD setup page that you must be the bill
payer on the mobile. Oh well.
I'll do a couple of 3 monthly top ups on a new sim & flog it on ebay,
then repeat....
