O2 Broadband and torrents?

Anyone notice a slowdown on O2 Broadband with their torrents? I'm
guessing they've jumped on the bandwagon to save £4 a year, without
knowing what torrents are or how they are used. Probably been listening
to BBC News.

Puts apt-torrent testing in the shitter!

Why do you think it is O2 rather than a problem with apt-torrent or your
router?

I asked if anyone noticed a slowdown!

You did, but for a reason, probably because you don't understand how
torrents
work or you are having a problem with your firewall or router.
It's easier if you just say rather than having a long guessing game.
If your torrents have slowed give us all a quick description and we can try
to
advise - but it sounds like you don't want help.

I know exactly how torrents work. Nothing has changed.

The question remains, "has anyone noticed a slowdown on O2 Broadband
using torrents?"

If you don't have O2 Broadband, you won't have noticed a difference!

On Be - same network as O2 - and no slowdowns. In fact, it's gotten a bit
faster lately
O2 / Be have not signed up to the BPI MOU
What torrent client are you using?
There are some slowdown issues in the Streatham area if anywhere near there

Thanks Nicola.

I'm using apt-torrent, which isn't the best anyway, but I use
Transmission (on Ubuntu Hardy) on occasion, usually to get new .iso
files, and this has slowed down to a crawl.

I put in a new router a couple of months ago, cos the old one couldn't
stay synced, but it really is awful. It's the O2 Box (rebranded
Speedtouch) and I suspect that is what the problem is!
I can't figure out why it was fine before, and not now. I suppose I'll
have to mess with it.

I can download the .iso and .deb files fine from the mirrors, but that's
not what using torrents is all about!

Torrent-limiting seemed to be the culprit, but I'm guessing not now.

Thanks again.

It's back to normal now, so gawd knows!

Still a double thumbs up for O2 Broadband from me...
